T-14 Armata: That’s Gotta Hurt

Where LazerPig savages the supposedly superior Russian T-14 tank. Turns out… it’s kind of a joke.

Sitting down and looking at the specs from a variety of sources, I see why people have been a bit freaked out by this thing. The video contradicts just about everything else available to me, so I don’t know what to think.

What strikes me is the sensor suite. I don’t see Russia being able to afford the kind of multifunction arrays this thing supposedly has on the prototype. If they can, that alone would be an issue. In terms of protection, particularly the active protection systems, who knows….

Bottom line, this is also a doctrine thing. Properly supported, any tank is a problem for dismounted infantry. I would rather have an M-48 backed up by a good mortar section and a troop of good scouts than an M-1A2 with a bunch of chuckleheads.. Particularly going up against a defensive position.

Having armor chassis for other vehicles besides tanks would be good for morale.
    Now for armored fuel carriers:)

Where China may help them might be in the drone department.

Now, infantrymen with MANPADS have the advantage…but if mass produced swarming drones force them and light armor off the battlefield…an all armor footing seems more wise.
