Airline pilots have a mandatory retirement age of 65. But the people holding the reigns of power in the US can be old enough to have witnessed the rise of multicellular life. Sure, many very elderly people are perfectly functional. But many… aren’t.
Having a position in the government is not a right. Someone being old and mentally unfit is *not* a reason to strip them of their home or their stuff… but it *is* a reasons – a damned good one – to remove them from government.
These decrepit, senile schmoes aren’t sticking around out of sheer doggedness… they are puppets being held in place by the people who rely on them for their jobs and for their political power. But once again… *those* people have no right to lifetime employment or position in government. Being in the government should not be a lifetime career, but something people take on as needed and then Cincinnatus the hell out of there when finished.
