Robo McDonalds

A McDonalds in Texas is fully automated (except, of course, for the people maintaining the machines). Expect to see more of these… especially in places with legally mandated high minimum wages. So much for “entry level” jobs…

I like the robot made burgers near me:

There are plenty of entry level kids working there to smooth the customer interface, feed the materials and on the whole they say they like working there. Add the requisite resident tech on a laptop to keep an essentially prototype machine running. On the whole, it seems to be a seamless operation

Our McDonald’s has been reducing hours and closing the dining room due to lack of staff.

This is in a College town too where one might expect more suitable candidates for this kind of work. This at $16.00 an hour.

The staff isn’t even mostly college age kids, there are a few college/highschool looking employees but the majority seem to belong to the “double wide mom from a single wide trailer” set. I am tole anecdotally that the college types fine it “demeaning”
