I’ve seen a number of YouTubers react to “2001.” A common thread is a general dull-wittedness… confused by what they’re seeing, and unable or unwilling to try to think it through, certainly unable to come up with intelligent suppositions. These two guys, however, seem to get it. Well… as much as *anyone* can “get it” without reading the novelization. After the events of Tuesday, this is perhaps a tiny morsel of hope that there might be some remaining shreds of intelligence among Gen Z.

I showed it to my teenagers a while back, and they said. “Too much talking.”
That’s the issue *every* generation has had with “2001.”
Thanks for pointing these guys out to me. My eyes were rolling when they said it was the oldest film they had seen, but damned if they didn’t follow it like champs.
“HAL is sus.” Indeed, young man.
I just watched their reaction to “The Thing.” Their reactions were *entirely* correct. One came close to barfing at just the moments when barfing would make sense to do so. And, unlike a lot of the more dimwitted reactors I’ve seen, they actually understood the mechanism of “The Thing.” It does not copy you like the “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” it *assimilates* you and turns your cells its its.
