Michael Imperioli forbids ‘bigots and homophobes’ from watching his work following Supreme Court ruling
I don’t know who that is, but after reading the article, it’s clear he’s a dimwit. The ruling he seems to have a problem with is the one that said that a business owner cannot be compelled to speech they don’t agree with; in this specific case, a Christian web designer didn’t want to make websites with messages she disagreed with on religious grounds. As a not-very-successful businessman, I scratch my head at the idea of turning down business just because you don’t like the politics; just smile, nod, hide your contempt, cash the check and put your B-team on the job. If you feel you must, scatter “Easter eggs” throughout. Write little notes in frosting between the layers of the cake, or the website has little hidden links to messages you *do* like, that sort of thing. But I can’t see the legal case to be made for, say, a Jewish sign maker being forced to do the graphic design for neo-Nazis protest signs.
But the thing is, this acting unit with the low metabolism brain wholly misunderstood the ruling, thus we get this sort of thing:
“I’ve decided to forbid bigots and homophobes from watching The Sopranos, The White Lotus, Goodfellas or any movie or tv show I’ve been in,” Imperioli said in the caption of a post on his Instagram page Saturday, adding “Thank you Supreme Court for allowing me to discriminate and exclude those who I don’t agree with and am opposed to. USA! USA!”
And…
“hate and ignorance is not a legitimate point of view.”
And most ironically:
“America is becoming dumber by the minute,”
“I don’t like your politics therefore I will not sell to you” is not the message of the ruling. “I don’t like your politics therefore I will not be compelled to speak your message for you,” however, *is.* I’m curious how he’d feel about being legally compelled to make a movie where Italians or gay people or lefties or some such were portrayed as universally irredeemable villains.
Now, your word of the day:
“Midwit”
Someone who is around average intelligence but is so opinionated and full of themselves that they think they’re some kind of genius. Midwits have a shallow understanding of things and at first can seem a bit smart, until you dig deeper and realize they’re just posers. They overlap with pseuds.
One response to “Who?”
Because mafiosos were such caring, positive role models to begin with.
