White House VIOLATED ethics guidelines by deleting fat-checked tweet saying Biden had given American seniors the biggest boost in social security, watchdog group claims
Short form: the White House proudly tweeted that Social Security recipients were going to get a big fat increase in their payments; this, the tweet claimed, was the result of the presidents fine leadership. But then it was pointed out that the increase in Social Security payments was linked automatically and directly to the rate of inflation; the increased payments were thus *not* something the White House should be proud of. So… sad and amusing all at once. But then the White House doubled down on the “Coverup Is Worse Than The Crime” aspect by deleting the tweet, hoping the issue would go away. But deleting an official White House tweet is apparently legally the same as destroying official documents, and that’s an ethic violations.
