It seems that Spock was brought back though prosthetics, not deep fakes:

Well… prosthetics got the job done for these few seconds. But if you wanted any real *acting,* especially for something of episode length, good deep fakery would probably be the way to go. If current tech isn’t good enough… just wait a few years.
